The Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris is one historic piece of work that you won't want to miss out on. Work on the Gothic cathedral began in 1163 and was completed in 1212 becoming the ‘heart' of Paris in the medieval time period.

For many decades the cathedral had gone almost unnoticed despite the beautiful Gothic architecture. Then in 19th century an author named Victor Hugo gave it the fame it deserved in the famous novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".

There is so much to see including the beautiful towers that stand high in the air, the artistic stained glass, and even the archaeological crypts that give you a look into the past.
The cathedral has become such a famous landmark in Paris and stays busy to visitors on most days. It is located on the lle de la Cite - which is surrounded by the Seine River.
